Happy Fall!

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers"

L.M. Montgomery

I am so happy it is fall, it is cooler, and that the air is finally clean. On the other hand, the plants I worked with over the summer are all getting ready to sleep for the winter. It is bittersweet.

I will collect some leaves as they change color. They can be pressed and dried to use later.

These black walnut trees glow from within as they change from green to yellow. The nuts aren't quite ready to harvest, although I think the squirrels beg to differ about that. A cautionary tale; you plant one black walnut tree to get the husks for dye and it won't be long before the squirrels make sure you have many, many trees.

Please come visit my work at Pottery Place Plus in downtown Spokane or turn up at Yuletide at the Spokane Art School in November 6th and 7th. More details to come.
